The Teener Building.
This building seems ridiculously small when compared to the buildings around it. It's sitting right on Hennepin Avenue near the corner of 8th St. To the left in the picture is the recently closed Skyway Theatre and to the right is one of the many Shinder's shops in Minneapolis. Behind the teeney Teener looms the IDS tower, the tallest building in Minnesota.
The Teener doesn't seem to have a right angle anywhere. It sort of slumps back from Hennepin Avenue at an angle. I think this happened because the alley behind the building follows Nicollet Avenue's plat line and the property where the Teener stands is where these dualling plats reconcile.
Inside, the Teener looks as you'd expect it to. There's tons of peeling paint, many racks of stuff for sale, and a generally shabby look that's almost comforting. I personally hate suspended ceilings and once you get past the cash register area, the ceilings are open all the way up to the plaster.

It's a pretty neat little building.
I hope that anyone considering doing something with the vacant space the Skyway Theater is today will leave the Teener alone.
