I love beautiful buildings.
When I was out on the road, I took many pictures of houses that struck my fancy. Here are a few:

New England

This was some sort of town hall building in Lowell, Massachusetts. It was beautiful and I was on the move, so all I got was a picture.

I find a lot of my pictures were taken on less than sunny days. I was working at the time and didn't have time to stop. That's why most of these travelling shots are taken from inside a van.

Elsewhere in New England I saw some cool houses. The following houses were fairly close to each other, but I can't remember the town. They may have been Wallingford, Connecticut, Amhearst, Massachusetts, or Providence, Rhode Island.
I love the cupula on top of this house.

The roof of this house is really neat.
Somewhere in New England as well.

Kentucky

In 1988, I was stranded in Paducah, Kentucky. The van I had leased had broken down and parts were a couple of days away. The dealership was nice enough to rent me a car until my company could secure a longer term lease. This house was about a block away from the Ford dealership in Paducah, Kentucky.
Beautiful, just beautiful.
I was pretty bummed out when I got stranded. The dealership didn't have a rental for me until the following day and as I left the dealership to walk to get dinner, I was thinking about how much money I was going to lose if I ended up sitting. What made it worse was that it was a Friday afternoon and they weren't going to even look at it until sometime on Monday. I usually worked weekends so I was for sure going to miss out on all that lovely money. Nuts. It really lifted my heart to see this house just a block into my despairing journey.
I'm feeling better already...
It must have been a labor of love.

Minnesota

Lanesboro, Minnesota is a beautiful little town about 30 miles South of Rochester on U.S. Highway 52. This house is just down the block from the Lutheran Parsonage where my Dad's family used to live.
The woodwork on this house just stuns me.

I've lived in a couple of houses in Minneapolis, but the first one was the biggest and had the most ornate features. It was built in 1900 on a triple wide lot and it was enormous. My room was the former living room. The landlord had walled off the arch between the living room and dining room. It was cheap and close to the U. I don't have a lot of pictures from that area, but here's the cornice.
Believe it or not, these things look you square in the face several times a day. Do you notice them?
Talk about Art in plain sight.

House Interiors

Yes, I'm very much in love with the fixture in our dining room. Here it is again.
I've yet to see one quite like it.
I would like to have seen the house this was in originally.

This fixture lives in our friend's house near Uptown.
I'm green with envy
They, their house and this light are all totally beautiful.
